Assessments
Assessments play a critical role in clarifying the levels of support needed to maintain and improve daily functioning, enhance independence, and ensure safety.

Functional Capacity Assessments
A functional capacity assessment can involve a comprehensive evaluation of a person’s functional capacities and limitations including their mobility, cognitive, communication and sensory preferences.
They assist in developing recommendations on how to achieve your goals in areas of support needs, equipment needs, environmental needs and accommodation needs.
Equipment Prescription
ADOT has experience many aspects of equipment prescription including some complex and customised equipment to support individuals.
Equipment prescription involves identifying a person’s capacities and limitations when performing essential or desired activities.
Driving Assessments
ADOT is a qualified Driver Trained Occupational Therapist that can assist with supporting people who have a disability (including people who are described as neurodiverse) with obtaining a suitable licence to drive a motor vehicle.
ADOT can also assist with vehicle modifications to support someone with a disability to either be a driver or passenger.
Home Safety Assessments
ADOT provides in-home assessments and recommends minor modifications or adaptations to support physical and cognitive impairments, helping ensure safety and a client’s capacity to engage in their desired activities in the home.
Accommodation Models Assessments
This includes various models of support, including supported independent living models (SIL), etc.

Therapy
ADOT draws on experience and skills to create individualised therapy programs tailored to your capacities, needs and your goals. ADOT remains client-centred, culturally aware, and safety focused. Through ongoing education and a commitment to innovation, ADOT stays up to date with emerging healthcare principles and technologies that support better outcomes.

ADL Skills
ADOT has extensive experience in assisting people to develop their Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills in a way that is personal and individually tailored to a their optimal learning styles.
Cognitive Strategies
An interview with client and family or other stakeholders would be undertaken to ascertain goals and priorities for client and the environment the concerns are being raised.
Person-centred interventions will be developed to achieve the desired goal-oriented outcomes. Most interventions last between 6 and 12 weeks, allowing time for learning and ensuring sustained performance of the strategy.
Lymphedema
Lymphoedema is a lifelong condition, but with appropriate, individualised intervention, its effects can be managed, enabling a person to live life to the fullest. ADOT works from a model of client centredness with a holistic approach to achieve ongoing self-management.
ADOT will complete an initial assessment with extensive education on options and suitable interventions including possible compression garment prescription or other modalities to manage lymphoedema.
Scar Management
ADOT has been trained over many years to work with scars no matter the cause. ADOT’s goals for scar management are to assist in the prevention of keloid scars, adhesions and the resulting reduction of function to a scared limb.
Multiple modalities are used dependent on the type of scar and your lifestyle. This could include self-massage, silicone mediums, low level cold laser (LLLT), taping and prescription of customised and off the shelf compression garments.
Transport Training
ADOT can offer specialised, individualised programs for transport training to assist people to increase their capacity to travel safely in the most appropriate mode of transport (public or private).
Neurological Rehabilitation
ADOT works from a variety of evidence-based and diverse interventions such as brain plasticity to support rehabilitation and capacity building following neurological insult or disease.
All interventions are client-centred and goal-oriented to help a person achieve the best and realistic functional outcomes.
ADOT also works closely with families and caregivers, providing education to help everyone to understand how best to support a person throughout their journey to goal achievement.
